Invocation

O Thou, in the path of Whose love happiness bears a hidden pain,
And in sorrow, ever a hidden joy!
O Thou radiant Origin of every emanation of reality
Whose abiding glory shines
From the heart of every merest atom!

Thou the Fashioner,
Whose silent gaze orders the galaxies and rules the stars,
Could I ever fittingly call Thee "Lord of the Universe?"

O Source and Goal of all,
Who art nameless beyond Thy many names,
Truly Thou art the All Glorious!

I bow and weep longingly
At the shore of the shrouded sea
And give up my soul in the thundering tide.

The chanting of the wind
And the song of the surf
Embrace within me.

Suddenly, the words are more than words,
The world, more than the world,
And I, more than myself.

Now there is only one,
And nothing more
Need be said.
